Backlog: The history and practice of collections documentation and museums' contribution to the digital cultural record

Thank you for your interest in completing this survey. The outcomes of this survey inform Kathleen Lawther’s doctoral research, which will be presented in a thesis for the fulfilment of a PhD in Museum Studies. 

The following pages provide you with the Participant Information Sheet and the Data Protection Privacy Notice for the survey (hard copies for which can be found by following the links). Before moving on to the main questions you will need to confirm that you agree to participating in the survey by completing the Informed Consent form on page 4. 

The survey asks questions about:

• The type of museum you work in
• Staffing
• Documentation systems
• Collections Management System users
• Object records
• Publishing collections online
• Documentation policies and planning

At the end of the questionnaire there is an opportunity to express interest in participating in further research. This is completely optional.

This questionnaire is aimed at people who work with collections information in museums and should take approximately 15 minutes to complete.
